Rocket Chinese is my highest personal recommendation for anyone planning to learn Chinese. Rosetta Stone Chinese on the other hand has been one of the most recommended course for a long time. The course is quite well designed and deserves the top slot. The only problem with this course is that it is quite overpriced when placed in comparison to Rocket Chinese. It comes in three different parts and you got to pay separately for each of the part.
You can also opt in for the online version of this software which is available at a lower rate but it limits you to staying online almost all the time. I suggest that you take a look at Rocket Chinese before you go for Rosetta Stone.
